Description

Seeking motivated undergraduate student(s) to assist a professor in preparing grant proposals and manuscripts related to the association between social determinants of health and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This position offers a unique opportunity for students interested in public health, health disparities, medicine, epidemiology, or related fields to gain hands-on experience in academic research and grant/manuscript writing. Key Responsibilities: • Assist in gathering, reviewing, and synthesizing relevant literature for grant proposals and research manuscripts. • Contribute to the drafting and editing of research proposals and academic manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. • Help format and prepare references, tables, and figures for manuscripts in accordance with journal guidelines. • Attend periodic Zoom meetings with the professor to discuss project progress and tasks. • Assist in administrative tasks related to the preparation of research and grant materials (e.g., compiling documents, proofreading, etc.). Qualifications: • Strong interest in public health research and a desire to gain experience in academic writing and grant preparation. • Excellent written communication skills and responsive to email communication. • Ability to conduct thorough literature reviews and summarize key findings clearly. • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow formatting and citation guidelines. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and literature search tools (e.g., PubMed, Google Scholar). • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently after receiving task instructions.
