Lactation Lab Research Assistant

This Research Assistant position is a voluntary (unpaid) position, although in some rare occasions it may be tied to course credit after discussion with the Lab Director (Dr. Jen Nickelson).  There are expectations that the Research Assistant will participate in weekly meetings, give research and educational presentations to others in the lab, and conduct supervised research outside of our weekly meetings.  This is a great opportunity to gain research skills and learn more about breastfeeding and infant nutrition.  You do not need to have any experience conducting research to apply for the position....

How presidential political ads use (and misuse) news-mediated evidence

Political ads often make statements that reference a news story, because third-party evidence is more credible than other sorts of statements. But sometimes, those ads don't always tell the truth about what the original evidence really says. Since 2008, we've coded hundreds of presidential spots that contain news-mediated evidence, and then found the original stories cited in those ads, and then determined whether what the ad says matches what the news evidence says. Suicidal Ideation and Close Relationships

The SPAIR Lab is currently focused on studying how close relationships impact suicidal ideation in adult populations. The SPAIR Lab uses both primary and secondary data, most of which consists of online surveys. The goal of the SPAIR Lab is to identify both risk and protective factors associated with close relationships to be incorporated into suicide prevention efforts. Close relationships studied include romantic relationships, family members, pets/animal companions, and greater sense of belonging in larger contexts.
