Description

The Brain, Learning, and Education Lab at The University of Alabama is seeking approximately three volunteer Research Assistants (RAs) to assist with a child development research study. This is an unpaid research experience opportunity for students interested in gaining hands-on experience with behavioral research involving children. The study examines how children respond while completing computerized math tasks. During study sessions, we will collect eye-tracking and heart-rate data while children complete math activities. Children will also complete several standardized assessments. Research Assistants may help with: * Preparing the lab and research equipment before sessions * Welcoming and preparing children and families for the study * Assisting with eye-tracking and heart-rate data collection * Supporting the research team during computerized tasks * Administering standardized assessments * Learning about behavioral research procedures and data collection with children Sessions will generally take place in the afternoons after school and will last approximately 2 hours, including setup time. Scheduling will depend on participant availability, so some flexibility is helpful. This opportunity may be particularly useful for students interested in psychology, education, child development, cognitive science, neuroscience, or related fields who would like to gain research experience.
